4 Things We Learn While Doing Livestream Events

#1 Preparation

Preparation is very important for a very successful livestream. Before the live event itself, we have to make sure that every assets are prepared. Assets such as audio, videos and other assets needed to be lined up on standby before we go live. At the same time, we have to also make sure that everyone is briefed and is aware of the event sequence. All equipment that we have should be sufficient and ready to go for the next few hours of livestream.

However …

Despite planning and preparing, there will always be hiccups here and there so we need to be on our toes for such technical issues.

#2 Be Adaptable

As mentioned in the previous point, we need to be on our toes for any technical issues. Therefore, we have to be adaptable to whatever good or bad that is going to happen during the live stream. Throughout the event, we have to constantly observe the environment and the things that are going on while controlling our live switchers and mixers. Multitasking at its most potential.

#3 Usually Done In ONE Take

Comparing to video production, livestreaming events are done in one take while for video productions, we can always cut and retake the scenes whenever needed. Due to that lack of luxury, again, we have to make sure that everything is prepared before we go live.

There were not much video editing needed after the event. Most of the time, our clients would request for the full footage of the whole event for them to reuse for marketing. There were also times where our clients wanted us to edit a highlight video using the clips captured during the live stream.

#4 Last Minute Additions Are Very Painful

Despite being adaptable to any last minutes changes, it can still be quite a hassle for us and one small change could make a big difference in our setup. THAT difference could cause us a few hours to reconfigure the setup. It could also cause interruptions to the live stream.
